Nike footwear comes from the sportswear giant founded in January of 1964 by business partners Bill Bowerman & Phil Knight, then known as Blue Ribbon Sports. It was over a decade later in 1978 when the brand adopted the Nike moniker, a name aptly taken from the Greek goddess of victory. The brand began in Oregon, first developing running shoes for athletes and then expanding the business to apparel, accessories and other sporting equipment. Their design and performance-centric approach to athletic footwear laid foundation to the business’ expansion, now considered a world leader in all fields they actively participate in; golf, skating, basketball, football, baseball, rugby, swimming and more.
